The Key to Purgatory is in the Slushy Machine…

Natalie over at the The Sound of Rain was gracious enough to give me the, “One Lovely Blog Award!” She’s a new follower to this blog, and I’m thrilled to have her along with all of you 🙂 She has an uber cool looking blog over there- check it on out 🙂

The rules say to pass it along to 15 new blogs you’ve discovered recently… but I’m gonna tell you the truth… I’ve had a seriously long week at work, and I don’t have the energy to link 15 blogs…

So… I’m going to give this to the first 15 people who comment on this post 🙂 I know everyone who visits this blog deserves it, so whoever gets here first– is anointed the keeper of the, “One Lovely Blog Award.” and I guarantee all of you have lovely blogs 🙂

I hope ya’ll don’t chastise me for cheating, but I just couldn’t do it this week.

I’m so sorry.

Oh look- another one 🙂 This one’s for all of you!

Jamie at The Variety Pages and Natalie at The Sound of Rain (I got two from her!) were kind enough to give all their followers,”The Icing on the Cake Award.” and so- my trusted cohorts- I bestow this delicious confection on to all of you, who bravely read my super corny and random posts.

You know I love ya more than my luggage… (How quotable is Steel Magnolias?)

Whew… okay on to what I’ve been doing and stuff… sorry about the long post guys 🙂

I’ve been NaNoing, it’s been great I just passed the 10,000 word mark. I’m right on schedule. So that’s cool. I wrote a scene last night where Snow (the MC for the newbies) enters Purgatory- and I was struck- what the heck would Purgatory look like? smell like? sound like?

I wrote that there would be screams in the background, quakes, uneven ground, smelled like mint (don’t ask me why–LOL), it was muggy, and located behind the door in the 7-11. I kept that the same…

The key is, of course, in the slushy machine!

So.. I’m curious, how do you see Purgatory? and… How the heck are ya?

Have a great weekend!

I’m sorry, so sorry- Blog Holiday

I had hoped that I could keep up with reading my favorite blogs and posting on mine during NaNo, but sadly, with work getting crazy– I’m just not going to be able to.

I love all your blogs and will definitely try to stop by and see what you are all up to, but I won’t be reading them daily. I expect to only post on this blog maybe twice a week. The Monday blog feature will continue since that is the only one that is the same every week.

Thank you to everyone who reads this! I will make up for it in December– it will be cold and I will be hauled up in my favorite microfiber recliner 🙂

So take care my writer friends! For those doing NaNo- I wish you many fast words, for those not participating this year, I wish you many fabulous words 🙂 (Well I wish the NaNo’ers those too.)I’ll be on twitter every night before and after my NaNo writing sessions, in case someone wants to say hello!

How much do you want to go to the location in the pic above? I do… *snaps fingers* Dang. I’m still here.

Take Care everyone! Will be in touch 🙂

Anyone care to tell me how they are still reading all their blogs and posting? You are champs if you are 🙂 I can’t keep up!

Monday Featured Blog

Well, now it’s official I’ve done two of these. I had some positive feedback on this feature so thus it will continue until someone says they don’t like it- or until I run out of blogs…LOL!

Jamie over at The Variety Pages has a fantabulous blog. It’s the most organized one I’ve ever seen. There’s a lot of goodies about writing- a new story prompt Wednesday, and her serial Novel-The Tempest!

She posts on Monday what posts will be throughout the week- something I will never do- I’m not that organized, but I love that she does it. I know what to expect that way 🙂

Below are this week’s posts!

Monday: Weekly Goals & Reading List
Tuesday: Construction Zone – Planning a Character Arc
Wednesday: Round Robin Story Prompt
Thursday: Wildcard – Awards Ceremony
Friday: Chapter 31 of Tempest

Other than being my uber awesome Crit Partner, she is an avid blogger with (4) other blogs! Take a look below and see if any of those interest you as well.

Word Blizzard is where Jamie blogs about her NaNoWriMo experience from the beginning on. This is a private blog- so if you want to join just send her an email.

Scaryview Cemetery Scrapbook is where she records her preparation and execution of her annual Halloween party and events. There are some cool pictures- I don’t know how she gets her house back to normal after that!

Nail Art Tuesday is where she displays her nail art. She does her nails every Sunday and posts the end result on Tuesdays- there’s some interesting ones in there. Worth a looksy 🙂

Tea on Tap are reviews and notes on tea and teaware from an everyday tea lover.

On a personal note- The Halloween event at the mall was a huge success- we had over 200 kids for the costume contest and an extimated 1200-1500 kids within 3 hours!

I also saw Paranormal Activity and it was super great, and hellishly scary- I couldn’t sleep that night- good thing NaNo started- I got 2175 that night! If you want to be creeped out, by all means- see this movie- if not- don’t come near it with a ten foot pole 🙂

Happy Monday everyone- And for those NaNoing & Writing- I wish you many words!

Kreativ Blogger Award- x2

I’m so touched that Lost Wanderer over at Lost Wanderer’s Writing Blog also nominated me for the Kreativ Blogger Award! She has a great blog with lots of writing goodies and her journey toward NaNo and beyond! Make sure you check it out! Thank you LW for giving me this blog award. I offer it to you as well 🙂

Well, in lieu of the fact that I’ve already honored the 7 blogs & given my 7 things about me (check it out Here) I’m going to nominate Lost Wanderer as my blog today!

Happy Halloween! Enjoy this spooky trailer of the movie I will be seeing tonight! If you didn’t know- it’s for Paranormal Activity 🙂

I’d Like to Thank the Academy

Matt from Pensive Sarcasm was nice enough to nominate me for a Kreativ blogger award! He’s a cool dude and I love reading what he’s up to! Thanks Matt 🙂 Go check out his blog- if you haven’t yet 🙂

He’s also given me a bit of work- to pick 7 blogs to nominate- it’s hard because I love all the blogs I follow. But alas it must be done…

The rules are:
1. Copy the Kreativ Blogger picture and post it on your page.
2. Thank the person that gave the award to you and link back to their blog.
3. Choose 7 other bloggers that you would like to give the award to.
4. Write 7 things about you that we don’t know.
5. Link to the bloggers that you chose.
6. Let your winners know that they have the lovely award!

Hmm which to do first? Let’s see…

What Am I Doing in Mexico Melanie is great- there were times on my blog when she was the only one commenting- hers was the first blog I began reading… she’s currently doin’ her thing in Mexico and has a great blog with goodies about writing, Mexican life, and her new puppy Owen 🙂

The Variety Pages– Jamie is my uber awesome Crit Partner- My writing has improved a ton since meeting her- and her blog is a nice welcome into her world- she has three other blogs. I’m only linking the one- but trust- the others are good too 🙂

A Walk in My Shoes Susan is a great blogger- she is honest and genuine and her blog reflects that! She has interesting and helpful things to say in every post, which is very hard to do!

MeganRebekah Blogs… and Writes Megan has informative and entertaining posts. She is knowledgeable and funny! She has a good grasp on the publishing industry and current events too.

The Bookshelf Muse A helpful place for writers to find that pesky word/situation that’s eluding them.

Natalie Bahm- Wife, Mother, Writer, Natalie and I think a lot a like- she may not know that- but I really relate to her posts! Her blog, like mine, is like a long conversation! She has a good balance of personal and writing stuff in her posts 🙂

The WriteRunner Andrew’s blog posts are some of the most detailed I’ve seen. They cover a lot of basis in the short post area. He has unique views and is not afraid to go against the grain, and I like that 🙂

And that leaves me with the 7 things. Well I’ve actually already answered these so I will link my previous blog post for that 7 Things

In case you don’t want to click:

1. I was born in San Jose, California and moved to the mid-west when I was five.
2. I had open heart surgery last year to replace my aortic valve and part of my aorta.
3. I’ve been married for 7 years, just like the title to this post 🙂
4. I work in a local mall managing the kiosks in the common area as well as some events/marketing.
5. I started writing my first novel when I was unemployed. It was a Janet Evanovich novel that inspired me.
6. Poetry was my first writing attempt at the age of 16 after my father passed away.
7. I’m a HUGE Detroit Lions Fan and U of Michigan Fan and watch all the games. Last year was a rough one for me. I’m looking forward to a better year for both teams!

Extra fun fact—-> Halloween is one of my favorite holidays! I love the horror movie marathons on AMC and the other movie channels!

Whew- that was a lot of work, but seriously Matt- you’re awesome for giving me this award and I accept on behalf of this blog- who is on hiatus for a few days because the owner is bogged down with work stuff 🙂

Well, this weekend I’m working the Halloween event at the mall. It’s crazy, but fun. The hubs and I are going to see Paranormal Activity too, if it’s not sold out 🙂

Anyone doing anything fun this weekend for Halloween? Have any of you seen Paranormal Activity yet? Is it good?

Have a great weekend everyone!
